Route 18 southbound ramp to Route 1 northbound closure for emergency repairs in Middlesex County
Water main repairs require overnight highway ramp and
lane closure
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the emergency closure of the Route 18 southbound ramp to Route 1 northbound and the adjacent deceleration lane on Route 1 northbound in New Brunswick, Middlesex County.
Starting at 9 p.m. tonight, Monday, April 17 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, NJDOT is scheduled to close the ramp from Route 18 southbound to Route 1 northbound and the adjacent deceleration lane on Route 1 northbound in New Brunswick to allow for repairs due to a water main break. The following detour will be in place.
Route 18 southbound to Route 1 northbound detour
- Motorists on Route 18 southbound will be directed to continue on Route 18 southbound and make a right onto Eggers Street
- Make an immediate right onto Suydam Road
- Make a right onto Kennedy Boulevard
- Make a right onto McGuire Street
- Make a right onto Route 18 northbound and stay right to take the Route 1 northbound exit
Variable message signs and lane closure signs will be utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of any traffic pattern changes associated with the repairs project.
