Railroad-crossing repairs begin this week on
Ryerson Road in Lincoln Park
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a week long closure and detour of Ryerson Road in Lincoln Park, Morris County.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 20, until 7p.m. Thursday, April 27, the two-way traffic on Ryerson Road is scheduled to be closed at the railroad crossing between Forest Avenue and Borinski Road. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach. The following detours will be in place:
Ryerson Road northbound detour
- Vehicles traveling northbound on Ryerson Road will be directed to Route 202/Boonton Turnpike southbound, and turn right onto Comly Road
- Continue on Comly Road, make a right on Williams Street and another right to Ryerson Road
Ryerson Road southbound detour
- Vehicles traveling southbound on Ryerson Road will be directed to turn onto Williams Street, make a left onto Comly Road
- Make left onto Route 202/Boonton Turnpike, and make another left onto Ryerson Road
The traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing in Lincoln Park, the existing crossings will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
