Route 130 lane closures as the Crystal Lake Dam safety improvements resume in Burlington County
Traffic shift required as dam improvements and bridge repairs advance
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the restart of safety improvement work on the Crystal Lake Dam and repairs to the Route 130 Bridge after a winter shutdown in Burlington County.
On Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., NJDOT’s contractor South State Inc., is expected to close the right lane on Route 130 northbound and southbound between Kinkora Road in Mansfield and Taconic Road in Bordentown to install concrete barriers and restripe the roadway.
Traffic on Route 130 northbound and southbound will be shifted to the center of the roadway, allowing one 11-foot left lane to be maintained in each direction until fall 2017 for the next stage of construction.
NJDOT has designed work on the $4.6 million federally-funded Crystal Lake Dam project to be performed in stages. The project is expected to be completed in early 2018. The project includes repairs to the existing bridge, construction of a new emergency drawdown outlet and drainage outfall, removal of vegetation from the embankments, and new guiderails. The project is designed to bring Crystal Lake Dam into compliance with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Dam Safety Standards.
Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
