Railroad-crossing repairs begin this week on
Beaver Brook Road in Lincoln Park
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a week long closure and detour of Beaver Brook Road in Lincoln Park, Morris County.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 4, until 7p.m. Thursday, May 11, the two-way traffic on Beaver Brook Road is scheduled to be closed at the railroad crossing between Bog and Vly Lane, and Windsor Drive. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach. Motorists may take either of two detours:
East of Beaver Brook Road
- Beaver Brook Road traffic heading northeast will be directed to take Route 202/Boonton Turnpike northbound
- Make a right on Comly Road/CR511A northbound
- Continue northbound on Comly Road
- Make a left onto Ryerson Road/Lincoln Park Road
- Bear left onto Boulevard/CR511A
- Make another left at Jacksonville Road/CR504 and follow to Beaver Brook Road
- Traffic heading south would use the reverse route
OR
West of Beaver Brook Road
- Beaver Brook Road traffic heading northwest will be directed to stay on Route 202/Main Street westbound
- Make a right onto Route 202/Firehouse Road
- Make another right onto Main Road/CR655A
- Make a left onto Jacksonville Road/CR504 and follow to Beaver Brook Road
- Traffic heading south would use the reverse route
The traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing in Lincoln Park, the existing crossings will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
