Railroad-crossing repairs begin next week on Waterford Road in Winslow
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require the closure and detour of Waterford Road in Winslow, Camden County.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, August 14, until 7p.m. Tuesday, Augusts 15, the two-way traffic on Waterford Road is scheduled to be closed at the railroad crossing between Sixth Avenue and Winterberry Lane/North Avenue. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach. The following detours will remain in place:
Waterford Road Eastbound Detour:
- Motorists traveling east on Waterford/Blue Anchor Road will be directed to bear right onto East Central Avenue
- Make a left onto Route 143 northbound/Spring Garden Road
- Make a left onto Route 30/White Horse Pike westbound
- Make a left onto Waterford Road/Blue Anchor Road
Waterford Road Westbound Detour:
- Motorists traveling west on Waterford/Blue Anchor Road will be directed to Route 30/White Horse Pike eastbound
- Make a right onto Route 143 southbound /Spring Garden Road
- Make a right onto East Central Avenue
- Continue to Waterford Road/Blue Anchor Road
The detour will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing in Winslow, the existing crossings will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
