Railroad-crossing repairs begins this week
on Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require the closure and detour of Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach, Ocean County.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, October 26, until 7 p.m. Thursday, November 2, the two-way traffic on Arnold Avenue is scheduled to be closed at the railroad crossing intersection between Route 35 northbound/Cincinnati Avenue and Cooks Lane. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach. The following detours will remain in place:
Arnold Avenue eastbound Detour:
- Motorists traveling eastbound on Arnold Avenue will be directed onto Route 35 southbound/Richmond Avenue
- Make a left onto Atlantic Avenue
- Make a left onto Chicago Avenue
- Follow to Arnold Avenue
Arnold Avenue westbound Detour:
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossings in Point Pleasant Beach, the existing crossings will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program, which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
