I-95 lane closures near Scudder Falls Bridge today for emergency pothole repairs in Ewing
Temporary repairs in both directions expected to be complete today
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced lane closures on I-95 today for emergency pothole repairs near the Scudder Falls Bridge in Ewing, Mercer County.
Beginning at 8 a.m. this morning, Friday, January 19, NJDOT’s contractor, Schifano Construction, closed the right two lanes of I-95 southbound to make temporary repairs to potholes and heavily deteriorated pavement in the vicinity of Exit 1/Route 29 in Ewing.
Work is beginning on the southbound lanes and then will move to the northbound lanes. All three lanes in the southbound direction will be milled and paved, as well as both northbound lanes. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained while the emergency paving is being done.
In addition, the Exit 1 ramps in both directions will be closed and detoured at some point during the day. The repairs are expected to take approximately eight hours and be complete before the evening commute. The following detours will be in place:
I-95 southbound Exit 1 to Route 29:
- Motorists will continue across the bridge and take the exit for Pennsylvania Route 32 southbound
- Take the ramp to I-95 northbound and cross the bridge
- Take Exit 1 in New Jersey to Route 29
I-95 northbound Exit 1 to Route 29:
- Motorists will cross the bridge and continue past Exit 1/Route 29
- Take Exit 2/Bear Tavern Road
- Turn left on Bear Tavern Road and take the ramp to I-95 southbound
- Take Exit 1 to Route 29
Motorists can expect congestion and delays on I-95 during construction and are advised to plan extra time. NJDOT is coordinating with the Delaware River Joint Bridge Toll Commission and PennDOT on the emergency work.
Regional variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the emergency repairs
