(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight ramp and lane closures from Route 22 eastbound to Routes 1 & 9 southbound local near Haynes Avenue as the improvements project advances in Essex County.

Beginning at 9 p.m., tonight, Monday, May 21 until 6 a.m. the next day, and continuing each night through Thursday, May 24, NJDOT’s contractor Anselmi and Decicco, Inc. will close one lane on Routes 1 & 9 left southbound local, leaving one travel lane open.

In addition, beginning at 10 p.m., tonight, Monday, May 21 until 6 a.m. the next day, and continuing each night through Thursday, May 24, the Route 22 eastbound ramp to Routes 1 & 9 southbound local will be closed and detoured to complete electrical and paving work and to remove the temporary concrete construction barrier.

Route 22 eastbound to Routes 1&9 southbound overnight detour:

  • Take the exit for South Broad Stree
  • Turn right onto Emmett Street

The project is being accomplished in stages, and is expected to be completed in summer 2018.
