Port Reading Avenue bridge maintenance continues in Middlesex County
Traffic shift in place for one week
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the continuation of a preventative maintenance project to repair two bridges in Woodbridge.
Beginning at 7 a.m., Wednesday, May 23 until 3:30 p.m. and continuing during the same time Thursday, May 24, and Friday, May 25, NJDOT’s contractor, Power Concrete Co., Inc., will shift traffic on Port Reading Avenue to the left and right of both structures between ProLogis Way and West Avenue in Woodbridge to create a center work zone to conduct preventative maintenance on the bridge deck. Improvements include repair of the bridge deck, sidewalks, and curbs. Both bridges will remain open during the project. Work will pause for the Memorial Day holiday and resume on Tuesday, May 29. Work is expected to be completed in June of this year.
Work on these bridges is part of a larger federally-funded $3.7 million maintenance contract to extend the life of 21 bridge structures throughout Middlesex County through preventative maintenance tasks including concrete repair, crack sealing, and the application of corrosion inhibitors. The contract is part of a multiyear plan, which began in June 2017.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weatheror other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOTinfo and our Facebook Page.
