Route 38, Route 130 and Route 206 daytime lane closures to begin this week for resurfacing in Burlington County

Lane closures and alternating traffic will be required until complete

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a maintenance resurfacing project that will require shoulder and lane closures for the next several months, beginning with limited repairs on Route 206, continuing on Route 38, and concluding on Route 130 in Burlington County.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, August 20 until 6 a.m. the next day, and continuing nightly for the next several months, NJDOT’s contractor, AE Stone Inc., is scheduled to start single lane closures for milling and paving. Construction will require daytime shoulder closures, overnight single lane closures and overnight alternating traffic where necessary for resurfacing. The resurfacing of each of the three highways is expected to occur in the sequence below. At least one lane will be maintained throughout construction. The work is being coordinated with local police and will be done overnight to minimize disruptions to traffic and businesses through this corridor.

Route 206 (for approximately one week)

  • The project will start with isolated concrete joint and asphalt pavement repairs on approximately five miles of Route 206 in both directions between Park Avenue and Forked Neck Road in Shamong. Route 206 is a single lane highway, requiring alternating traffic with overnight flaggers to direct one-way traffic during construction.

Route 38 eastbound (for approximately one month)

  • The project will continue with resurfacing approximately three miles of Route 38 eastbound between Bancroft Lane in Hainsport, through Lumberton to Pemberton Road in Mount Holly

Route 130 (for approximately one month)

  • The next section to be resurfaced will be approximately two miles of Route 130 in both directions, between Hornberger Avenue in Florence, through Mansfield to Springhill Brook in Bordentown

Route 206 (for approximately one month)

  • On the last section, crews will return back to resurface the previous five miles of Route 206 in both directions in Shamong. Route 206 is a single lane highway, requiring alternating traffic with overnight flaggers to direct one-way traffic during construction.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
