I-80 westbound resurfacing begins tonight in Warren County

Overnight lane closures necessary during construction

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a $7.3 million resurfacing project that will resurface 11 miles of I-80 westbound and Route 57 in Warren County, as well as make improvements to concrete curbs and sidewalks.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, August 20, until 6 a.m. the next day, NJDOT's contractor, Intercounty Paving, is scheduled to close the right and center lanes to mill and pave a seven mile stretch of I-80 westbound between CR 519 and CR 517 through Allamuchy, Frelinghuysen, and Hope. Work will continue nightly from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day through the fall.

When resurfacing I-80 westbound is complete, the contractor is expected to begin milling and paving a four-mile stretch of Route 57 in both directions between Railroad Avenue and Penwell Road through Mansfield, Washington Township, and Washington Borough. The project is expected to be complete in late fall of this year.

Advanced warning and variable messaging signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. NJDOT will provide more information before any lane closures are scheduled.
