Route 206 overnight lane closures over Crusers Brook
in Somerset County
Traffic shift necessary to relocate gas main
(Trenton) -– New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced traffic on Route 206 southbound in Montgomery is scheduled to be shifted this weekend as the bridge deck replacement on the Route 206 Bridge over Crusers Brook project advances.
Beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, August 24, until 7 a.m. the next day, NJDOT's contractor, Joseph M. Sanzari, Inc. is scheduled to close one lane of Route 206 with alternating traffic overnight to establish a temporary traffic shift. At 7 a.m. Saturday morning, southbound traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed lanes in order to relocate a gas main. Once the traffic shift is in place, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. The shift is expected to be in place until fall of this year, and the project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2019.
The $5.9 million dollar federally-funded project will replace the bridge deck and substructure, and make significant improvements to the superstructure. The project is designed in stages to minimize impacts to traffic and maintain one lane of traffic in both directions at all times. During the first stage, traffic was shifted to the center lanes to allow the contractor to replace the bridge deck on newly installed footings.
Construction signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. NJDOT will provide more information before any lane closures are scheduled.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info or on the NJDOT Facebook page. |
