Route 29/I-195 eastbound ramp to I-295 southbound
left lane reopened in Hamilton
Right lane remains closed for emergency repairs
(Trenton) -New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the reopening of the left lane and shoulder on the ramp from Route 29/I-195 eastbound to I-295 southbound in Hamilton. The right lane remains closed until further notice for emergency repairs.
This morning at approximately 5 a.m., Monday, September 10, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction, reopened the left lane and shoulder on the ramp from Route 29/I-195 eastbound to I-295 southbound.
Last week, an inspection found severe concrete deterioration and exposed rebar requiring immediate attention resulting in a full closure and detour of the ramp on Friday afternoon. This weekend engineers conducted additional inspection and testing of the structure and determined it is safe to reopen the left lane and shoulder until the repairs are complete. The right lane on the ramp will remain closed until further notice.
NJDOT is in the process of designing the repair and work will begin as soon as the design is finalized. Motorists should use caution and expect congestion.
Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info and on the NJDOT Facebook page.
