Route 29/I-195 eastbound ramp to I-295 southbound
right lane to reopen in Hamilton tomorrow
Right shoulder remains closed for permanent repairs
(Trenton) -New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the reopening of the right lane on the ramp from Route 29/I-195 eastbound to I-295 southbound in Hamilton. The right shoulder remains closed until further notice for permanent repairs.
At approximately 7 a.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, September 19, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction, is expected to reopen the right lane on the ramp from Route 29/I-195 eastbound to I-295 southbound following emergency repairs that stabilized the structure.
On September 7 the entire ramp was closed and detoured following an inspection that found severe concrete deterioration and exposed rebar on a pier requiring immediate attention. Following additional inspection and testing of the structure the left lane and shoulder were reopened on September 10. The contractor has completed temporary repairs to protect the deteriorating pier and stabilize the bridge, allowing the right lane to be reopened.
The right shoulder remains closed until permanent repairs are completed. NJDOT is in the process of finalizing the design of the permanent repair. Work will begin as soon as the design is finalized. Motorists should use caution and continue to slow down through the construction zone.
Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
