Route 206 lane closure required over Crusers Brook
in Somerset County
Alternating traffic necessary as bridge deck replacement advances
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the closure of Route 206 southbound with alternating traffic this weekend in Montgomery as the Route 206 Bridge over Crusers Brook project advances.
Beginning at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, December 7, until 9 a.m., Sunday, December 9, NJDOT's contractor, Joseph M. Sanzari, Inc. is scheduled to close Route 206 southbound, and maintain alternating traffic with flaggers for each direction on Route 206 northbound over Crusers Brook to install a precast structural element. Route 206 normally maintains one lane in each direction over Crusers Brook.
The $5.9 million dollar federally-funded project will replace the bridge deck and substructure, and make significant improvements to the superstructure. The project is designed in stages to minimize impacts to traffic and maintain one lane of traffic in both directions at all times. During the first stage, traffic was shifted to the center lanes to allow the contractor to replace the bridge deck on newly installed footings. Replacement of the bridge deck is expected to be completed in the summer of 2019.
Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. NJDOT will provide more information before any lane closures are scheduled.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info or on the NJDOT Facebook page. |
