Route 88 Bridge over Point Pleasant Canal
overnight closures tonight and tomorrow night
Nightly detour necessary for system testing
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced that the Route 88 Bridge over the Point Pleasant Canal in Point Pleasant is scheduled to be closed and detoured overnight tonight and tomorrow night to complete system testing.
Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 20 until 5 a.m. the next day, and again at 8 p.m. tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 21 until 5 a.m. the next day, NJDOT’s contractor Mount Construction, will close and detour the bridge to complete interlock testing. The full closure is necessary to lift the bridge several times during the testing period. The following detour will be in place:
Route 88 Eastbound detour
(Monday, May 20 and Tuesday May 21, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
- Route 88 eastbound motorists will be directed to turn right on Beaver Dam Road/CR 630
- Turn left on Bridge Avenue east and go over the Lovelandtown Bridge
- Turn left on Bay Avenue/CR 604 to Route 88
Route 88 Westbound detour
(Monday, May 20 and Tuesday May 21, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
- Route 88 westbound motorists will be directed to turn left on Bay Avenue/CR 604
- Turn right on Bridge Avenue west over the Lovelandtown Bridge
- Turn right on Beaver Dam Road/CR 630 to Route 88 westbound
Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
