Bridge work next week on Schalk’s Station Road in Plainsboro
Necessary safety work will require lane closures and alternating traffic
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced the start of a bridge maintenance project requiring temporary lane closures and alternating traffic on Schalk’s Station Road in Plainsboro, Middlesex County.
Beginning at 7 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, until 5 p.m. this evening, and continuing daily through Friday, May 31, NJDOT’s Contractor, Power Concrete, is scheduled to close one lane on Schalk’s Station Road in the vicinity of the railroad crossing bridge and alternate northbound and southbound traffic using flaggers. Construction is limited to daytime hours in order to minimize disruption to nearby residents.
The work is part of a $5 million federally-funded bridge maintenance project intended to extend the structural life of 21 bridges in Middlesex County. It includes deck repair, curb replacement, expansion joint reconstruction, cleaning of drainage systems, structure power washing, pier repair, and waterproofing.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. If work is completed earlier than scheduled, the roadway will be reopened accordingly. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info and on our Facebook Page.
