I-80 Exit 38 ramp to be closed overnight this week in
Denville, Morris County
Signed detour in place using exit 42C through Friday
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a temporary overnight closure and detour of I-80 eastbound Exit 38 in Denville, Morris County.
Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, July 9 until 6 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, and continuing overnight Wednesday and Thursday nights, NJDOT’s contractor, I.E.W. will close I-80 eastbound Exit 38 for milling and paving work. The following signed detour will be in place:

- Motorists wishing to take Exit 38 for Route 46 eastbound will be directed to take Exit 42C for Route 202 north towards Parsippany
- Merge onto Route 202 and stay in the right lane
- Follow signs for the ramp onto I-80 westbound
- Take Exit 39 towards Route 46 eastbound
This construction is part of a $20 million state-funded project bridge maintenance and repair project to extend the life of multiple spans throughout northern New Jersey.
Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
