(Trenton) -
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a five-day closure and detour of 12th Avenue between 16th Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard next week in Paterson, Passaic County.
Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, September 9, until 7 p.m., Friday, September 13, 12th Avenue, which is one way in the eastbound direction, will be closed and detoured at the railroad crossing just west of 16th Street to remove the existing crossing and replace it with a new concrete crossing, as well as new asphalt approaches. The following detour will be in place:
12th Avenue eastbound detour
- Motorists on 12th Avenue will be directed to turn right onto Rosa Parks Boulevard
- Turn left onto Hamilton Street
- Turn left onto E 18th Street
- Turn left onto E 16th Street back to 12th Avenue
Local access will be maintained for businesses and residents on 12th Avenue between 16th Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard during construction.
The traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
