NJDOT and regional transportation agencies host
Traffic Incident Management training for first responders
Project will widen Bridge and improve safety
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation, in partnership with the New Jersey State Police, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority, Gloucester Township Fire Department, and Haine’s & Reihl’s Towing are hosting a multi-disciplinary first responder training exercise in Traffic Incident Management (TIM) at the Camden County College Fire Academy.
TIM Responder Training brings police, firefighters, DOT, towing, medical personnel, and other incident responders together to engage in interactive, hands-on incident resolution exercises. To date, NJDOT and its partner agencies have trained more than 17,000 emergency and incident response personnel and PENNDOT has trained more than 14,000 emergency and incident response personnel.
Media will have an opportunity to observe the training, which includes classroom curriculum and a staged accident in which first responders will get experience using actual vehicles and response equipment such as fire trucks, tow trucks, and traffic safety equipment to remove an overturned truck. There will also be an emergency landing zone set-up and the NJ State Police helicopter will be landing.
NJDOT has a web site www.NJTIM.org that functions as a central clearinghouse for first responders across the State, including materials and future training opportunities.
