New ramps to open for eastbound traffic in Jersey City
Route 1&9T viaduct over St. Paul’s Avenue project advances
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced the planned opening of two new exit ramps this weekend for motorists heading eastward towards the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel and the Jersey City riverfront.
NJDOT’s contractor, George Harms Construction Co., is scheduled to open new permanent exit ramps which will provide safer and more efficient access for:
• Route 7 eastbound and Route 1&9T northbound motorists destined for Charlotte Avenue and the Holland Tunnel.
• motorists from St. Paul’s Avenue, Duffield Avenue and Charlotte Avenue destined for the Holland Tunnel, the Lincoln Tunnel or Route 1&9/Tonnele Avenue.
The $210 million federally funded project has replaced the Routes 1&9T viaduct over St. Paul's Avenue and is building new approach roads to safely connect to Route 1&9T, Route 7, Pulaski Skyway, Route 139, Route 1&9 north of Tonnelle Circle and local streets in Jersey City. Project completion remains on track for spring 2013.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information.
