Route 9 northbound ramps at Bordentown Avenue reopened in Sayreville
Extended reconstruction work
on new asphalt ramps completed this morning

NJDOT’s contractor, Intercounty Paving Associates, had closed the ramp connections on Friday night, November 1 with the original intent to reopen the reconstructed ramps around 4 a.m. on Monday, November 4. The work – and corresponding closures and detours – was extended due to unforeseen circumstances which required additional work. The old concrete roadway ramps have been replaced with new ramps constructed of flexible-pavement asphalt.

The contractor will now schedule the reconstruction work for the Route 9 southbound ramp connections at the interchange and NJDOT will provide advance notification of those closures.

The $37.6 million project is repaving sections of deteriorated pavement on Route 9 in both directions from milepost 116.7 in Manalapan Township, through Marlboro, Old Bridge, Sayreville, and South Amboy to the vicinity of milepost 135.6 in Woodbridge Township. The project will extend the useful life and improve the surface rideability of the highway, including all travel lanes, turn lanes, shoulders, ramps and median openings. The project, which was designed in-house by NJDOT engineers, is expected to be completed in fall 2014.
