Route 21 emergency bridge repairs near Route 3 in Clifton will be completed this week
Temporary overnight lane closures necessary
to remove construction barrier
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the emergency bridge repairs on the Route 21 Exit 9 ramp to Route 3 will be completed this week in Clifton, Passaic County.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 5 until 5 a.m. Thursday, October 6, two left lanes on Route 21 North are scheduled to be closed to remove a temporary construction barrier. On Thursday, October 6, beginning at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday, September 7, two left lanes on Route 21 South will be closed for the continued removal of construction barriers. At least one lane will be maintained while the barriers are being removed. NJDOT recommends that motorists plan their trips accordingly and prepare for delays in the region.
The left lane of both Route 21 North, and Route 21 South have been closed since September 7, for emergency repairs to the supporting piers underneath the Route 21 Exit 9 Bridge to Route 3 at milepost 9.28.
NJDOT will be using Variable Message Signs to provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
