Public Outreach
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) holds pre-construction official briefings as well as public information centers before proceeding with construction projects. NJDOT is committed to developing transportation improvements that best balance the transportation needs, the environment, community concerns and costs.
- A Public Information Center (PIC) was held on May 1, 2007 (pdf 235k), at the Gloucester County Board of Elections Building for property owners within a 200-foot radius of the project limits, those with property along the detour routes, and other members of the public who were invited to the previous PIC. The majority of concerns raised at the Public Information Center focused on specific concerns relating to the owners property A meeting for officials from Gloucester County, the Townships of Logan, Greenwich, East Greenwich, West Deptford and the Borough of Paulsboro was conducted during the Feasibility Assessment phase on August 13, 2003 at the West Deptford Township Municipal Building.
- On February 16, 2006, the Department submitted a Final Design Submission package to Logan, Greenwich, East Greenwich, Paulsboro, West Deptford, and Gloucester County for review and comment. This submission package included the proposed temporary detour routes in Segments 1, 2 and 3. This submission package also included the proposed temporary nighttime closure in Segment 4 during the resurfacing work on Route 295 and ramps in that segment.
- On November 21, 2005, Greenwich issued a resolution in support of the Route 295 rehabilitation project.
- On November 4, 2005, West Deptford issued a resolution in support of the Route 295 rehabilitation project.
- On November 1, 2005, East Greenwich issued a resolution in support of the Route 295 rehabilitation project.
- On October 26, 2005, Paulsboro issued a resolution in support of the Route 295 rehabilitation project.
- On October 20, 2005, Logan Township issued a resolution in support of the Route 295 rehabilitation project.
- On October 11, 2005, received comments from Greenwich Township on the Preliminary Design Submission package. On November 29, 2005, provided response to comments received.
- On September 20, 2005, the Department submitted a Preliminary Design Submission package to Logan, Greenwich, East Greenwich, Paulsboro, West Deptford, and Gloucester County for review and comment. This submission package included the proposed temporary detour routes in Segments 1, 2 and 3.
- A Public Information Center (PIC) was held on June 15, 2005 (pdf 922k), at the West Deptford Township Municipal Building for residents of the affected municipalities within a 200-foot radius of the project limits. The majority of concerns raised at the Public Information Centers focused on roadway closures and detours as well as coordination with concurrent construction work as it relates to the best detour routes through the corridor.
- During the Preliminary Design phase, two public officials’ briefings were held. On May 25, 2005 (pdf 23k), representatives from Logan, East Greenwich, and West Deptford were present. On June 7, 2005 (pdf 20k), representatives from Greenwich and Paulsboro were present.
