Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) are non-profit membership organizations. Their membership consists of various types of employers and government agencies who work together to solve local transportation problems.
There are eight TMAs in New Jersey that offer many services that can be useful in developing, implementing, promoting and monitoring new employee transportation programs.
These are some examples:
- Identifying appropriate alternative modes of transportation
- Developing marketing ideas and conducting promotional events
- Generating and mailing rideshare matchlists to potential carpoolers and vanpoolers
- Assisting with the development of Emergency Ride Home programs
- Helping to set up telecommuting and compressed work schedule pilot projects
- Suggesting the best program monitoring techniques
- Providing information on available public transit and other local transportation services
- Assisting with the development, administration and processing of employee surveys
- Helping with Commuter Choice (federal) and Smart Moves for Business (state) tax credit forms
- Explaining the NJ TRANSIT vanpool sponsorship incentive program
- Explaining the USEPA’s Best Workplaces for Commuters employer recognition program
