Funding Programs

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is committed to advancing projects that enhance safety, renew the aging infrastructure and the State's economy and support new transportation opportunities. The Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) provides the opportunity for State assistance to local governments for the funding of road, bridge and other transportation projects. Annually, the TTF provides $400 million in State Aid to municipalities and counties for local transportation improvements. For FY 2017 thru FY 2024 the TTF fund distribution will be as follows-

Municipal Aid $151.25 million
Urban Aid $10.0 million
County Aid $161.25 million
Local Bridges Fund $47.3 million
Local Freight Impact Fund $30.1 million
Local Aid Infrastructure Fund $7.5 million
Transportation Infrastructure Bank Fund $22.6 million

In addition, several programs which provide funding to counties and municipalities are funded with federal monies available through the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA 21) legislation.

State Funded Programs
Programs funded through the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund (TTF).

Federally Funded Programs

Programs funded through the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program(STIP) and the TEA 21.
