Route 1 northbound has been widened to provide three lanes and outside shoulders or auxiliary lanes from Grandview Avenue to the Garden State Parkway (GSP).

The Amboy Avenue northbound bridge widening, demolition of Stage IIIA of the bridge over the abandoned Conrail Line and construction of piers for the pedestrian overpass east of Route 1 was also completed.

New ramps at the Route 1 intersections with Grandview Avenue and Parsonage Road have been completed and opened to traffic. Menlo Avenue between North Lafayette Street and Route 1 northbound is constructed and open to traffic.

The east side of the Route 1 and Ford Avenue intersection has been improved with a new loop ramp providing left turn movements from Route 1 northbound to Ford Avenue westbound.

All sidewalk and retaining wall construction is complete on Route 1 northbound.

The Route 1 existing grass median has been removed and paved.

There is no access to Route 1 from Starkin Road, Lafayette Avenue and South Oak Avenue.

Construction has been completed on Route 1 southbound from I-287 to the GSP, including drainage, curbing, driveway reconstruction, intersection improvements and demolition and construction of the Amboy Avenue bridge.

Construction work has also been completed along Route 1 southbound, at the Ford Avenue and Lafayette Avenue intersection with minor work remaining on the pedestrian overpass.

There will be no access to Route 1 from Thomas Place and John Street.
