Information from members of the community, including those who attended Public Information Centers in February and March 2005 led to many items being incorporated into the contract. Besides vehicle and boat traffic, they requested access for pedestrians and bicyclists during the construction, improved safety, choice of design, materials and construction to speed up the project, environmental protection and a 25-year life for the improvements.

Communication with the community will be ongoing during construction. The community will be kept informed and there will be periodic meetings with local officials in a continuing effort to minimize negative impacts to the community and to ensure safety.

The public will also be able to get information from variable message signs, radio traffic reports, real time traffic information and other online and electronic outlets at school and workplaces.
