Department of Transportation

Workshops and Training

Workshops led by national and state experts are continuing for in-house management, engineers and planners on Complete Streets. The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has also published a Complete Streets Design Guide and the Complete & Green Streets For All: Model Complete Streets Policy & Guide for municipalities and counties to use in developing their own policies. The New Jersey Department of Transportation Bicycle and Pedestrian Resource Center (BPRC) promotes the passage of local Complete Streets policies and provides technical assistance to municipalities and counties.

The BPRC Complete Streets webpage includes a curriculum and video developed for regional workshops on Complete Streets policy development, design, and implementation. The page includes links to resources on design, liability and maintenance, Complete Streets presentations and a listing of all policies throughout the state.

Workshops & Presentations
Over the years, NJDOT has sponsored a series of Complete Streets workshops across the state. These trainings were designed to help communities learn about Complete Streets and how counties and municipalities can benefit from adopting and implementing their own policies. The Complete Streets Workshop presentations from 2022 are available for viewing on the BPRC website.

Beginning in 2010, the Department has also sponsored a biennial Complete Streets Summit with panel presentations, keynote addresses and awards. Over 300 people from around the state attended the 2023 Summit at Rutgers University in New Brunswick on November 1, 2023. Links to presentations and awards for all the New Jersey Complete Streets Summits are also posted on the BPRC website.
