Southern New Jersey Freight Transportation and Economic Development Assessment

The Southern New Jersey Freight Transportation and Economic Development Assessment study evaluated the freight transportation needs to support current and future commercial and industrial activity in the southern New Jersey region. Recommendations are made for specific projects in highway, rail and marine infrastructure necessary to maintain, improve and expand key industry sectors. The report is separated into a detailed summary report and a technical appendix.

Preceding this study, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) conducted a visioning plan in 2008 to evaluate areas of potential growth in maritime freight, freight logistics, and associated economic development for the southern New Jersey region. This visioning plan identified the needs, opportunities and constraints of this region and served as a foundation for the larger and more detailed study.
