Roadway Improvements
A summary of the proposed improvements includes:
- Elimination of loop roads connecting South Tenth Street, South Eleventh Street and Memorial Avenue
- Elimination of the Flanders Avenue overpass over the existing loop roads
- Reconstruction of Flanders Avenue to an at-grade intersection with Memorial Avenue
- Conversion of South Eleventh Street and Newton Avenue to a two-way street
- Widening of South Eleventh Street to accommodate a five-lane cross-section with two 11-foot through lanes in each direction and 11-foot left turn lanes at the intersections
- Conversion of a portion of Tenth Street to a two-way street (Martin Luther King Boulevard to Mount Ephraim Avenue)
- Construction of signalized intersections at Flanders Avenue/South Eleventh Street/Memorial Avenue
- Construction of signalized intersections at South Eleventh Street with Memorial and Mount Ephraim Avenues
- Modification of signalized intersections at South Eleventh Street/Newton Avenue, South Tenth Street/Newton Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard and I-676 ramp
- Construction of a left turn movement with a traffic signal from the I-676 northbound exit ramp to Eleventh Street
- Realignment of Wright Avenue at the intersection with South Eleventh Street
- Construction of a connector roadway from Line Street to Pine Street
- Conversion of Line Street from one-way west roadway to a one-way east roadway between Mount Ephraim Avenue to Saint Mihiel Street.
