Why is this work being done? |

The project will improve traffic
flow and reduce accidents at the existing intersection of Route
70 and Route 73 by replacing the obsolete Marlton Circle with
a grade separated interchange. The improvements will separate
Route 73 traffic and Route 70 traffic through the construction
of an overpass. |

March 2009 awarded the construction contract to South State
Inc. of Bridgeton, New Jersey. |

How much will it cost? |
A. |
The total construction cost for this project is an estimated
$31 million. The project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA). |

How long will it take to complete? |
A. |
The work is scheduled to take place between April 2009
and November 2011. It will be done in stages in
order to minimize construction impacts on the community
and expedite construction.
As of November 2011,
the project is
substantially
complete with only
corrective
action items remaining.
Construction of
the Centre Boulevard
and Route 73 intersection
improvements will
begin in March 2012
and are
scheduled for completion
in July 2012. |

Will the project entail detours and delays? |
A. |
No detours are planned. Two lanes of traffic will remain open
in each direction on Route 70 and Route 73 from Monday through
Sunday between 6 am and 9 pm. NJDOT will maintain access to
all properties and businesses during construction. |

Traffic information will be provided on variable message
signs along Route 70 and Route 73 and on NJDOT's NJ511
Travel Information Web site and NJ511 phone system. |

Is the community involved? |

NJDOT is working with municipal and county officials,
business owners, and state and local police. NJDOT held public
meetings and information centers throughout the
project design process in order to provide the community information
about the planned improvements. |
