Stages and Schedule
The project
is scheduled for completion
by November 2011 and includes
three stages.
Construction
will entail lane shifts
on all of the reconstructed
roadways and a temporary
roadway alignment that will
impact Route 73 traffic.
As of November
2011, the project is
substantially complete with
only corrective action items
remaining. Construction
of the Centre Boulevard
and Route 73 intersection
improvements will begin
in March 2012 and are
scheduled for completion
in July 2012.

Stage
One - April 2009 to April
2010 (completed) |
Stage One construction will entail the following
traffic pattern changes: |
- occasional shoulder closures will take place on Route 70
and Route 73; and
- lane shifts will be implemented on Old Marton Pike and West
Main Street.

Stage One construction will include: |
- demolishing the former Bob's Seafood site;
- constructing drainage basins;
- constructing ramps from Route 70 westbound to West Main
Street (Ramp B-Spur), from Route 73 northbound to Route 70
westbound (Ramp D), from Route 73 southbound to Old Marlton
Pike (Ramp K), from Route 73 southbound to Route 70 eastbound
(jug handle C), and from Route 70 eastbound to West Main Street
(Ramp B);
- creating jug handles from Route 73 southbound to Route 70
westbound (jug handle C) and Route 70 eastbound (jug handle
E);
- building the Centre Boulevard Extension;
- reconstructing the parking lots in the ShopRite/Kohl's shopping
center, Marlton Crossings shopping center, and Marlton Greene
shopping center;
- installing a traffic signal on Route 70 at the ShopRite/Kohl's
shopping center;
- building three temporary traffic signals along Route 70
at Route 73 northbound (Ramp D), Route 73 southbound (Ramp
K), and Maple Avenue;
- installing a traffic signal at the intersection of Old Marlton
Pike and Centre Boulevard; and
- installing a temporary traffic signal at the intersection
of West Main Street and Route 73 northbound.
- reconstruction of Old Marlton Pike and West Main Street
will require traffic shifts and the construction of temporary
pavement.

Two - May 2010 to
March 2011 (completed) |
Stage Two construction will entail
the following traffic pattern changes: |
- traffic on Route 73 will use the newly constructed ramp
at Route 73 southbound (Ramp K);
- traffic will use the newly constructed ramp from Route 73
northbound (Ramp D) to West Main Street and Route 70;
- motorists will use the new ramp from Route 70 westbound
to West Main Street (Ramp B-Spur);
- Route 70 traffic will shift in order to create work zones
along Route 70.

Stage Two construction will include: |
- widening Route 70 westbound and Route 73 northbound;
- constructing a ramp from Route 70 westbound to Route 73
northbound (Ramp A);
- building the remainder of the ramp from Route 70 eastbound
to Route 73 northbound (Ramp B);
- constructing portions of Route 73 southbound;
- constructing the Route 73 bridge over Route 70 and associated
retaining walls;
- installing the traffic signal at the intersection of West
Main Street and Route 70 westbound; and
- reconstructing grass medians on Route 70.

Three - April 2011
to November 2011 (completed) |
Stage Three construction will entail
the following traffic pattern changes: |
- northbound Route 73 traffic will use the newly constructed
Route 73;
- traffic will use the newly constructed ramp from Route 70
eastbound to Route 73 northbound (Ramp B); and
- traffic will use the newly constructed ramp from Route 70
westbound to Route 73 northbound (Ramp A).

Stage Three construction will include: |
- completing work on the Centre Boulevard Extension;
- completing work on Route 73 southbound;
- completing improvements to Route 70;
- finishing median improvements;
- building intersection islands;
- resurfacing the entire project area;
- installing signs;
- landscaping;
- activating traffic signals; and
- removing temporary traffic signals.
