NJDOT replaces Route 56 Rainbow Lake Bridge in Pittsgrove
NJDOT Commissioner Kris Kolluri speaks at a press conference to mark the opening to traffic of the new Route 56 Bridge over Rainbow Lake in Pittsgrove Township, Salem County. The previous bridge was completely destroyed by flooding on April 17. Joining the Commissioner for the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Assemblyman Jon Burzichelli, Salem County County Freeholder Deputy Director Bruce Bobbitt, Assemblyman Doug Fisher, Senator Steve Sweeney, Cumberland County Freeholder Director Doug Rainear, Piitsgrove Township mayor Peter Voros, Cumberland County Freeholder Lou Magazzu.

NJDOT awards Safe Routes to School grant to Roselle
Commissioner Kris Kolluri joined with Senator Ray Lesniak and Assemblyman Joe Cryan to present mayor Garrett Smith and Roselle Borough a $250,000 “Safe Routes to Schools” grant that will help create safer walkways and bikeways, safer street crossings, improve motorists’ awareness of school children and school children’s awareness of motorists at two Roselle Borough schools. Here the elected officials are joined by faculty and students from Harrison Elementary School and Leonard V. Moore middle school at the check presentation.

NJDOT Commissioner Kris Kolluri reinforces Governor Corzine’s commitment to the safety of our state’s transportation infrastructure in the wake of the Minneapolis I-35 bridge collapse. The Governor and Commissioner highlighted the bridge inspections planned for all state owned steel deck truss bridges, particularly the Route 1 & 9 Pulaski Skyway. With the Commissioner and the Governor are U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, and U.S. Senator Robert Menendez.

NJDOT to construct new Alexander Road bridge in West Windsor
NJDOT Deputy Commissioner Steve Dilts helps break ground on a $10.6 million project that will replace the deteriorated Alexander Road Bridge over the Amtrak Northeast Corridor rail-line with a one-span continuous steel bridge that will carry one lane of traffic, a shoulder and a sidewalk in each direction at a press event held on site, Monday July 30, 2007. On hand were West Windsor Council President William Anklowitz, Dilts, West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh and Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes. Construction began in late-May 2007.

New Jersey announces electrification of Bordentown truck stop
The system delivers heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to the truck cab and sleeper compartment via a console that is mounted on the cab's passenger window. The console also provides power to the trailer refrigeration unit, appliances inside the cab and hookups for cable television, telephone, and internet service.

NJDOT Commissioner Kris Kolluri extolls the virtues of the 93 newly installed IdleAire units for truck stop electrification at Petro Travel Center #382, located off of NJ Turnpike and Route 295 in Bordentown. The electrification system enables truck drivers to enjoy amenities that are otherwise available only by continuously operating a vehicle's engine and releasing harmful diesel fumes. On hand at the event were NJDEP Commissioner Lisa Jackson, and DVRPC Director of Technical Services Chick Dougherty, Jr.

He was joined by NJ Transit Executive Director Richard Sarles, Ron Thaniel, AMTRAK, Director of Government Affairs and Woodbridge mayor John McCormack to break ground on the $47 million project to rebuild the station on the Northeast Corridor in order to accommodate increased ridership.

Monique King-Viehland and Francis Blanco joined Commissioner Kolluri at the event and spoke about the Governor Corzine's direction in his Economic Growth Strategies, and the creation of the NJ Division of Minority and Women Business Development in the Office of Economic Growth.

NJDOT designates Burlington City as New Jersey's 19th Transit Village
NJDOT Commissioner Kris Kolluri announced the designation of the Burlington City Towne Center RiverLINE Station as the state's newest Transit Village. Commissioner Kolluri presented Burlington City mayor Darlene Scocca with a ceremonial check of $100,000 to be used for initial Transit Village improvements. On hand for the check presentation are Burlington Councilwoman Ila Lollar, Council President Joseph Vanloan, Assemblyman Jack Conners, Scocca, and Kolluri.

State designates the Elizabeth Mid-Town station as new Transit Village
Governor Jon Corzine joined with NJDOT Commissioner Kris Kolluri, DCA and NJ Transit to announce the designation of the new Transit Village located in the City of Elizabeth surrounding the Midtown station. The Transit Village program strives to help redevelop and revitalize communities around transit stations to make them an appealing choice for people to live, work and play, thereby reducing reliance on the automobile. Governor Corzine addresses the crowd at the ceremony, held at the Elizabeth pedestrian plaza. Also on hand are Elizabeth mayor J. Christian Bollwage, Kolluri, Assemblyman Joe Cryan, DCA Commissioner Susan Bass-Levin, NJ Transit Board member Myron Shevell and Senator Raymond Lesniak.
