The precast hollow box piers are permanently stressed together using strand tendons. Depending on the pier location of the pier in the structure, either four or six tendons are needed. The strand tendons are epoxy coated and after stressing is complete tendons are grouted for corrosion protection. |

An approach span superstructure pier segment is being loaded onto the erection truss. The pier segments are erected in two halves and joined together at the match cast joint using epoxy. Approach spans are erected every three to four days. |
