The Carpender Road Pedestrian Bridge takes shape as crews install the rebar mat on the north abutment which will become the foundation for the pedestrian ramp. The bridge will also have an interior staircase at its southern end. |
|
The north abutment of the New Street Bridge is comprised of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls which are secured in place with tiebacks that are seen in this photo. These tiebacks are attached to the interior of the pre-cast panels which make up the walls of the bridge abutments. Once the area is back-filled, the weight of the rock and soil layers secures them in place. |

This crew from Conti Construction applied a natural veneer to the walls which buffer Boyd Park from Route 18 near Boathouse Drive. The naturalized look of the walls will add to the aesthetics of the park. From left to right are: Dave Barr, Mark DiGraci, Tony DiPrimio, Virgilio Fuentes and Joao Luis Fernandes. |
