Several feet of the rock face below the Antilles Field wall was sheered away to provide the width needed to create a separation of local and express traffic through the area. To recreate the aesthetics that existed prior to construction a new rockface was built using sculpted shotcrete applied over a steel rebar substructure. Once completed, the cliff will appear as though it was in its untouched, natural state.

To create the boulderscape below the Antilles Field wall, the process begins with excavations, then terra-drilling, installation of steel piles and tie-backs for stabilization. Wood lagging is installed between the piles and an insulation barrier is then applied. A steel rebar cage is secured to the steel piles and provides the stabilization of the shotcrete which is applied as an outer shell. |
